Aputure Lantern Overview and Examples
The Aputure Lantern provides convenient, easy to setup, and gorgeous soft light, all at a reasonable price. Recently, I did some videos about using a paper lantern for soft lighting, and let me tell you, THIS Aputure Lantern is much easier. It is my go-to for lantern looks, mostly because of the convenience of the bowen’s mount for attaching it to an LED monolight like most of Aputure’s products or a GVM P90S (what I tested it with). I am very pleased with how it looks and the light output levels you can achieve. It takes roughly 60 seconds to setup, and the included skirt accessory gives you a lot of control when working overhead. The tool itself is also very lightweight so actually using it overhead doesn’t feel like an added risk when safety measures are in place. It works well for portraits, simulated soft window light, and is especially useful as a space light to rise overall exposure without changing the shape of your lighting.
